The back straightening muscles* and abdominal muscles help stabilise and support the spine, therefore it's important to strengthen them.

*Which we can group into the following, if you'd like to know:

  • Erector Spinae Group (Iliocostalis, Longissimus, Spinalis)

  • Transversospinalis Group (Semispinalis, Multifidus, Rotatores)

  • Quadratus Lumborum

  • Interspinales and Intertransversarii

And here are the abdominal muscles from most superficial to deepest:

  • Rectus Abdominis

  • External Obliques

  • Internal Obliques

  • Transversus Abdominis
