Acute Back Pain:
A Hip Stretch for Sciatica-Like Pain
The sciatic nerve sometimes passes through the piriformis muscle. When the muscle gets tight, it can therefore compress the sciatic nerve and re-create lower back pain. It's be worth stretching it to check that this isn't a source contributing to a person's symptoms. Stretching and massage have a similar effect on muscles.
